Brock Deatherage(Western Alamance) headed to North Carolina to play baseball, but he might change his mind and play football elsewhere

from Bob Sutton with the Burlington Times-News at www.thetimesnews.com:

Brock Deatherage has one decision out of the way after committing to play baseball for North Carolina.

But the two-sport athlete at Western Alamance could have other choices on the recruiting trail.

Will the rising junior ultimately choose baseball or football?

“In my case, I have a commitment for baseball,” Deatherage said. “But I still have to work for football.”

That means he remains in contact with other schools.

Deatherage, whose speed has been among the drawing cards in both sports, is an outfielder in baseball. He plays safety — named to the Times-News All-Region team as a sophomore — in football, while he’ll likely be a two-way player by adding receiver or quarterback to his duties on offense.

*****Detherage is one of the fastest football kids in the state and can play some baseball too…..*****
