Greensboro Women’s Soccer Ranked Fifth in USA South Preseason Poll

The Greensboro College women’s soccer team was selected fifth in the preseason USA South poll as selected by the coaches. The Pride received 82 total points. Christopher Newport led the 12-team conference with 119 total points.

Greensboro finished 11-6-1 in 2011 and advanced to the semifinals of the USA South Tournament.

The Pride return seven players with starting experience, including five All-Conference honorees. Meredith Kelly is the leading returing scorer with 26 points (8 goals, 10 assists) a year ago. Overall, five of the top six leaders in points are back for another season.

Returning starters T’Keyah Henry and Sarah Hopkins will be relied on to anchor the defense, while USA South Rookie of the Year Shireen Unvala looks to take the next step following an impressive freshman campaign.
