Elon Women’s Cross Country Receives USTFCCCA Preseason Ranking

NEW ORLEANS – With the 2012 collegiate cross country season beginning this weekend, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has released its preseason regional rankings for NCAA’S Division I. The Elon women’s cross country team is ranked 13th in the Southeast Region, marking the program’s first ever preseason ranking.

The Phoenix finished 21st at the regional championships last year and is the only Southern Conference school to earn a preseason ranking. Last week, the maroon and gold were selected the favorites to win the conference in the SoCon Preseason Poll.

USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single number coach in each respective region.

Both the Elon men’s and women’s cross country teams open the season at the Demon Deacon Quad on Friday, August 31, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
