Elon’s Harris Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has announced that Elon volleyball’s Kris Harris has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for September 4. The selection was made by the conference office.

Harris, a middle blocker, led Elon to a 3-1 record last week with 40 kills, averaging 3.33 kills per set and hitting .395. In the maroon and gold’s matches against North Carolina A&T and Gardner-Webb, Harris was the only player to record double-digit kills with 11 and 12, respectively. Against North Carolina Central, the sophomore tallied 11 kills off 15 attempts with only one error to hit .667. The Apex, N.C., native also finished the week with seven blocks and one ace. At the end of the weekend, Harris was named to the Elon Phoenix Classic All-Tournament Team.

This is the third time of Harris’ career and the first time this season that she has been honored by the conference with a weekly award. As a freshman, Harris received both the SoCon Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week award.

Elon volleyball will play Radford tonight, Sept. 4, in a 7 p.m. match in Radford, Va.
