KANSAS CITY — The honors keep piling up for Royals prospect Wil Myers.

The Triple-A Omaha outfielder was named Minor League Player of the Year on Tuesday by both Baseball America and USA Today.

“I actually found out, probably like two weeks ago, when I had to do the interview. I was really excited about it. It was a real honor to be able to be selected for that,” Myers said, referring specifically to the Baseball America honor.

We just received this note this morning about this year’s awards for Minor League Baseball and Wil Myers, from Wesleyan Academy in High Point, has been named the Minor League Baseball Player of the Year

The awards were announced on Tuesday and Wil Myers(WES) is the Minor League Baseball Player of the Year….Myers hit 37 home runs this past season and he batted .313 for the Triple A Omaha Storm Chasers and for Double A Arkansas….

Wil Myers had a ride to South Carolina out of high school, but he signed with the Kansas City Royals and began his career with the Burlington(N.C.) Royals of the Appalachian League…..

Congratulations to Wil Myers on a job well done and Kansas City better get ready, Myers is on the way to the top….
