Heneberry Joins High Point University Women’s Lacrosse Staff

The High Point University women’s lacrosse team has added Ana Heneberry as assistant coach, head coach Lyndsey Boswell announced on Thursday. Heneberry was an All-American defender and two-time Big East champion with Loyola University.

“Ana has been coached well and I’m confident that she will be able to bring her knowledge to our program, mainly on the defensive end,” said Boswell. “She’s young and enthusiastic, yet mature and knows what she can bring to our program. I’m excited that she will begin her college coaching career at High Point University.”

Along with her playing experience, Heneberry has been head coach of the Diamonds Lacrosse Club and ROME Lacrosse Club, which are both based in Baltimore, Md. She instructed the 2017/2018 lacrosse teams during practices and tournament games and provided one-on-one instruction. She also helped players prepare for the college recruiting process and helped promote those clubs.

As a player, Heneberry led Loyola’s defense from 2009-12, becoming the second player in team history to record 100 caused turnovers and 100 ground balls. In both 2011 and 2012, Heneberry led Loyola to Big East Tournament titles and appearances in the NCAA Quarterfinals. She was an All-Big East honoree and All-Tournament selection in her junior and senior years.

In 2011, Heneberry was a third-team All-American and team MVP. She was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list in 2012. The Tewaaraton Award recognizes the national player of the year in women’s lacrosse.

A Communications major, Heneberry received Loyola’s Ernest Lagna Award as the school’s top female senior student-athlete who excels in athletics, scholarship and character in 2012. She was also a member of the Dean’s List on multiple occasions.

Heneberry was an All-American and an All-Metro selection while playing for Delaney High School in Timonium, Md.

Heneberry has also gained experience through internships and other positions with the Maximum Exposure Lacrosse Company, Under Armour, DLR Marketing and O’Brien Fine Art & Design.

She joins Boswell as well as assistant coach Lauren Paul and volunteer assistant coach Molly Lehman-Lewis on the High Point University women’s lacrosse staff for the 2012-13 season. The Panthers are coming off a National Lacrosse Conference regular-season title in 2012 and will play their first season in the Big South Conference next spring.
