Greensboro College Women’s Soccer Loses to Stevenson 5-0

The Greensboro College women’s soccer team was beaten 5-0 at home on Sunday by Stevenson University. Sunday’s match was the conclusion of the three team Greensboro College Tournament over the weekend.

The Mustangs got the first score of the day 18:10 into the game on a goal by Brandy Foehrkolb. Stevenson added another goal by Jennifer Simkin with 33 seconds remaining in the half to go into the break on top 2-0.

The Mustangs negated any hope of a Pride comeback in the first five minutes of the second half, scoring two goals to extend the margin to 4-0. Stevenson would put up the final goal of the day in the 68th minute.

Greensboro finished the day with ten total shots and two on goal. Meredith Kelly tied for a game high three shots. Jessica Thatcher and Shireen Unvala split time in goal for The Pride.

Greensboro is now 1-3 on the season. The Pride will look to rebound on Friday when Christopher Newport comes to town for a 5 p.m. showdown on Pride Field.
