College Volleyball Finals – Agnes Scott 3, Guilford 0; Roanoke 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s volleyball team wrapped up play at the Greensboro College Invitational Sunday. The Quakers (2-7) fell to Agnes Scott College, 25-16, 27-25, 25-16 in the day’s first match. Tournament champion Roanoke College downed Guilford 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 in the Quakers’ second and final match of the day.

Agnes Scott (3-2) served up 11 aces and hit .247 as a team in is straight-set victory. Natalie Rendon’s 11 kills paced the Scotties. Guilford got five kills, 18 assists, two service aces and 12 digs from junior Meredith Foscue (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro), who represented the Quakers on the all-tournament team. Teammate Kelsey Ruehling put away eight kills and had seven digs.

Roanoke (5-4) wrapped up a perfect 4-0 weekend and the tournament title with its win over Guilford. The Maroons’ Rachel Killinski had 11 kills on .625 hitting. Teammates Sarah Long and Allison White both added eight kills. Ruehling and Malikah French both had seven kills for Guilford. Foscue contributed 20 assists.

The Quakers are back in action next Friday (9/14) when it plays at Eastern Mennonite University in Guilford’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener.
