College Women’s Soccer Final – Roanoke 6, Guilford 1

SALEM, Va. – Stephanie Parentau scored three goals and Carmen Graves added a pair in Roanoke College’s 6-1 soccer win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday night in both teams’ Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener.

Parentau tallied twice in the first 15 minutes as the Maroons (2-2, 0-1 ODAC) raced to a 4-1 halftime lead. She banged her first goal of the game in off the crossbar in the sixth minute and connected off a corner kick nine minutes later.

Graves’ goals, also in the first half, were sandwiched around the Quakers’ (0-6, 0-1 ODAC) tally in the 37th minute when Leticia Benitez scored off a Bre Rolofson corner kick.

Parentau completed the hat trick 11 minutes into the second half with a breakaway goal off a Heather Reynolds assist. Lauren O’Brien capped the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 90th minute.

The Maroons outshot Guilford in the first half, 12-1, and held a 17-3 shots advantage for the game. Abby Gove made five of Guilford’s six saves in goal in 57-plus minutes in relief of starter Cori Karoly. Sarah Dvorak made Roanoke’s lone save in the second half.

Guilford returns to action Saturday (9/15) against visiting Bridgewater College in a 4:00 p.m. ODAC match.
