Greensboro College Men’s Soccer Earns 1-1 Tie Against CNU

The Greensboro College men’s soccer rallied from a 1-0 deficit to earn a tie against Christopher Newport in the USA South Conference opener for both teams.

A goal by Earl Floyd in the 89th minute helped The Pride force overtime. Floyd converted the game tying score for Greensboro on a long throw in that rolled into the box.

The Captains opened the scoring eight minutes into the contest as Jalon Brown converted a penalty kick. The penalty was set-up by a foul in the box that went against Greensboro.

It was a closely contested match with both teams creating numerous opportunities. The Captains held a 23-9 advantage in total shots and attempted ten shots on goal compared to five for The Pride.

Logan Paussa finished the game with a team highs for Greensboro in shots with three and shots on goal with two. Manbi Nyepon was awarded the tie in goal with a solid nine save effort in 110:00 minutes.

With the tie, The Pride are now 2-2-1 on the season. Greensboro will return to the field on Wednesday at St. Andrew’s for a 4 p.m. contest.
