College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Randolph 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kelsey Ruehling’s 14 kills led Guilford College to a five-set victory at Randolph College Wednesday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The Quakers (4-8, 2-1 ODAC) took their second win in three matches by the score of 25-17, 16-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9.

The host Wildcats (2-12, 0-4 ODAC) were two points away from victory in the fifth set when they took a 23-22 lead. Guilford reeled off the next three points, two on kills by Ruehling and the final point on one of Malikah French’s 10 putaways. The Quakers took a 3-0 lead in the decisive fifth set and never trailed. French had two kills and two service aces in the set, which saw the Wildcats make nine total errors.

Brittany DeCesare contributed 12 kills and three aces for the Quakers. Taylor Whitley notched a double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs. Meredith Foscue paced Guilford’s defense with 13 digs, one better than teammate Brooke Herr.

Celine Rhodes led Randolph with 17 kills on .433 hitting and eight blocks. Jordan Templin added 12 kills and 18 digs. The Wildcats’ Lexi Harrington led all students with 20 pickups.

Coach Emily Gann’s Quakers are back in action Friday night (9/21) when they host North Carolina Wesleyan College at 6:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
