Elon Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Day One of Fall Invite

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s tennis team concluded day one of the Elon Fall Invitational today, Sept. 21, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Stefan Fortmann had a great start to the tournament for Elon, advancing to the second round with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Campbell’s Adrien Rossignon in the A1 singles flight.

Brian Kowalski was victorious for the Phoenix in his first home competition, claiming a three-set win over Campbell’s Steven Billington, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, in the A2 singles flight.

Rookie Robert Lindgren had a big win over Wake Forest’s Brendan Henry, 6-3, 6-1, in the A2 singles flight as well to advance in the winner’s bracket.

Jordan Kaufman and Carlos Arboleda, both claiming wins in straight sets. Kaufman topped UNC Asheville’s Daniel Kripak, 6-4, 6-2, while Arboleda topped Winthrop’s Michael Chen, 6-0, 6-4.

Juan Madrid, Ismael Sanchez Delfin and Dan Sablik all won their singles matches as well for the maroon and gold.

The Elon Fall Invitational resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m
