Elon Men’s Tennis Concludes Day Two of Fall Invite

ELON, N.C. – Day two of the Elon Fall Invitational wrapped up today, Sept. 22, for the Phoenix men’s tennis team, with Stefan Fortmann and Carlos Arboleda both reaching the finals in their respective flights.

Fortmann continued his impressive play in the A1 singles flight, topping Old Dominion’s Carlos Lopez in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, to advance to the finals tomorrow at 1 p.m. Fortmann will face East Carolina’s Joran Vliegen.

Arboleda also reached the finals for the Phoenix in straight sets, claiming a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Campbell’s David Clavera. Arboleda will square off against Coastal Carolina’s Garik Yedigarian tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the B1 singles flight title match.

Doubles action will conclude tomorrow as well, with Fortmann and Brian Kowalski still alive in the A1 doubles flight. The duo will face Roller/Vliegren from ECU in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. The A1 doubles championship match will follow at 10 a.m.

Juan Madrid and Ismael Sanchez Delfin are also still in play in doubles, as the two will play Sunday at 9 a.m. versus Welte/Nahon from Richmond at 9 a.m. in the C1 doubles flight. The C1 doubles flight title match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
