Elon Men’s Tennis Wins Two Titles on Final Day of Fall Invite

ELON, N.C. – Stefan Fortmann and Carlos Arboleda both won individual titles today, Sept. 23, for the Elon University men’s tennis team on the final day of the Elon Fall Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Fortmann continued his impressive play in the A1 singles flight, defeating East Carolina’s Joran Vliegen in the first set, 6-4, and a thrilling 7-6 (4) victory in the second to win it in straight sets.

In the B1 singles flight championship match, Arboleda battled Coastal Carolina’s Garik Yedigarian to a hard-fought 7-6 (3) victory in the opening set. But Arboleda sealed the deal in impressive fashion in the second, disposing Yedigarian by way of a 6-2 decision to capture his flight’s title.

Elon’s next competition is slated for Oct. 12-14 in Winston-Salem, N.C., with the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
