Women’s Soccer Stunned by Methodist in Overtime 1-0

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Pride women’s soccer team lost a heart breaking 1-0 decision to Methodist at home on Saturday. Jessie Oder provided the lone goal of the day 4:58 into overtime to stop Greensboro short of a 3-0 start in USA South play.
Defense dominated the regulation period, as the two teams combined for only six shots on goal – five of which came during the first half.

The Pride caught the first major break of the game at the 73:40 mark in the second half, as the Monarch’s Kristin Habig was sent off the field with a red card. The card left Methodist a player down for the final 16:20 of regulation and the ensuing overtime period.

Unfortunately for Greensboro, that did not matter as the Monarchs continued on the attack that set-up Oder’s game winning score.

The defeat drops The Pride to 3-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the USA South. Greensboro will look to rebound next weekend with a two game road trip to Georgia to face new conference foes Piedmont and LaGrange.
