The Series: Methodist leads 11-4

Last Season’s Meeting: In the final game of the season and the careers of 18 Greensboro College seniors, The Pride football team fell to Methodist at home, 31-14. Greensboro raced out to a 14-7 lead but saw the Monarchs score the final 24 points to close out the win. The Pride outgained the Monarchs on the day 326-291. Greensboro picked up 103 yards on the ground and 223 through the air. The Pride also held a 34:32-24:13 advantage in time of possession. Warren Scott Jr. led the rushing attack with 69 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Ryan Throndset, meanwhile, added 223 yards and a score on 26 of 42 passing. Dexter Russell Jr. and Scott each grabbed a game high eight receptions. Russell finished with 96 yards receiving while Scott added 56.

Game Notes: Greensboro’s win over Apprentice was the programs first home win since beating Methodist 42-20 on November 7, 2009…The Pride are 2-1 in non-conference for the first time since the 2008 and 2009 seasons…Greensboro wide receivers Dexter Russell Jr. and Antwan Thorpe have both recorded more than 14 receptions and 245 yards…Thorpe leads all Pride players in trips to the endzone with three scores…Greensboro quarterback Ryan Throndset leads the USA South in yards per game through the air with 239.3…The Pride top the conference in total defense – and rank 40th nationally – by nearly 130 yards, allowing an average of 265.7 yards per game…The Greensboro defense is also tied for first in the conference in points per game (19.7) and fumble recoveries (5)…The Pride rank second in the conference in total offense with 333.3 yards per contest…Greensboro is the second least penalized team in the USA South at 47.0 yards per game…The Pride lead the conference in time of possession, holding the ball for 33:23 per game…Methodist is 8-13 at home since 2008…The Monarchs are fourth in the conference in total offense (313.0 ypg) and fifth in total defense (390.7)…Methodist is tied for second in the USA South with seven caused turnovers…The Monarchs have the top rushing defense in the conference, limiting opponents to 94.0 yards per game on the ground…Methodist quarterback Max Reber is tied for the conference lead in passing touchdowns with four while John Pappillion has tallied a conference leading four rushing touchdowns…Monarch wide receiver Vaughn Cross leads the USA South in receiving yards per game with 98.7…B.J.
