High School Football Tonight in Guilford County

High School Football Game of the Week will be on AM950 and we will have Page at Grimsley from Jamieson Stadium, with the pre-game at 6:45 and the kickoff at 7:30pm….Game on AM950, www.wpetam950.com and inside the stadium on 97.7FM…We will have scores on all of the games, all night long here at the site and on the radio….Be sure to text our game associate Dennis White with your scores at 442-6129 and Don Moore will have more game night score posting details for you later on today…..

Page(1-4) at Grimsley(2-3)….Page (1-0) Metro and Grimsley(1-1)…Both teams looking for a boost and this could be a toss-up coming into tonight…Both teams are looking to break out and go on a conference run…Might be a good idea to toss a coing later on this afternoon….RB DeShawn Jones set to return for Grimsley tonight and Page has been getting DB Carter Stanely back and more healthy in recent weeks….Many say the man to watch for Page is #2 Jalen Gavin….Jones could be the man to keep a close watch on for Grimsley…Looking forward to the QB battle/matchup with Jordan Putnam(Page) and Jake Simpson(Grimsley)…Too very bright kids that can do as much with their minds, as they can with their bodies….Good smarts on both sides of the ball…The ‘O’ lines and the defense will be the determining difference and that seems to always be the case….

Northwest Guilford(5-1) at High Point Central(4-2)….This one looks pretty even/up for grabs going in…..High Point Central has one of the best defenses in the state and NWG has 6 runningbacks that can contribute…..Probably comes down to the NWG ‘O’ vs. the HPC ‘D’….NWG(2-0) PTA 4-A and HPC(1-1)….

Northern Guilford(5-0) at Eastern Guilford(2-4)…Mid-State 3-A battle and right now, it doesn’t like anybody from around here, is going to be able to stop the Nighthawks….NG is on a roll on both offense and defense….Many are looking for Northern to run the table…

Western Guilford(2-4) at Ben L. Smith(0-5)…WG(1-1) in the Metro and Smith(0-2) and if Western wins here, then they are in the hunt and Smith just needs a win, in a bad way….Eagles have been very close several times this season….

Southwest Guilford(1-4) at Ragsdale(5-1)It looks like Ragadale, NWG and HP Central will be playing for the second spot in the conference behind East Forsyth and no disrespect intended for Rags, NWG and HPC, but it looks like East Forsyth is just that good…Ragsdale to put the Cowboys out to pasture early in this one…Ragsdale coming off of that loss to East Forsyth will be ready to make a statement tonight….

Asheboro(2-4) at Northeast Guilford(4-1)…..NEG and Southern Guilford at the top two teams again, in the Piedmont Triad 3-A….Coach Sugg, at NEG, ought to be sending us some good reports on this one tonight….

Southeast Guilford(4-2) at Southern Alamance(2-4)….SEG(1-1) Metro and SA)0-2)…..This is Coach Fritz’ old team so, you always want to be playing well when you go to Graham…Jonathan Lloyd is a very good back for SA…Southeast has way too much for SA, but SEG has to use it and put together a full game-plan tonight….Again, the Falcons have and they have to ready to use it…..

Southwestern Randolph(3-3) at Southern Guilford(4-1)…..Southern looking to crawl into the driver’s seat in the conference and with Moseley, Gallasby and Ball, to might be ready to do that….Don’t see anyone stopping SG for a while…They just have to watch out for the Orange peels that pop up along the way, as they head down the Conference road….

High Point Andrews(4-1) at WS Atkins(2-3)…..Don’t know a whole lot about this one, but my money would on HP Andrews until somebody finds a way to slow them down….HP Andrews is your 2-A Connection…..

*****Going to have to toss that coin on the Page-Grimsley game later on this afternoon….This is one too tough to call right now…Must put a lot of thought and 25 cents(a quarter) into this one….Page has had two weeks to get ready/prepare, Grimsley is playing competitive football now, week-in and week-out and Jones is back in the backfield, plus you have that big Page ‘O’ line and Grimsley has a kid that we didn’t mention before and he is a very good defender from his linebacker spot and that is #44 Rayshawn Mayfield…Saw that kid last week and he can play…Eric Johnson is a big leader for Grimsley and Sadeek Watt is one disciplined player for the Whiriles…Page has redemption(rough season early) on their minds and the Page seniors have never lost to Grimsley, but then again, the Whirlie seniors have never beaten Page….Cole Leonard has one heck of a foot and all of the things that we are talking about are good, but you have to put them to good use…*****
