  1. Just a quick note to anyone over at NC A&T atheletic department. I had no idea that ESPN was going to carry the A&T game last night on ESPNU until I just happened to come across it about 9:30pm. A couple points that I hope A&T considered. #1 – if they had promoted it more, then maybe more fans would have made it out to the game instead of just loyal fans and students. It would have looked so much better last night if there were not so many large areas of empty seats. #2 – Obviously ESPN is in it to get good ratings, and partner with different demographics and conferences. Again if A&T had better promoted this game, then at least someone like me could have tuned in for more of the game which may at least show up on the cable rating up.

In the end, it would have been in A&Ts favor to ensure that these general points were better than whatever it actually was last night in the stadium and a higher cable rating. I would think both of these facts would have encouraged ESPN to get A&T back on the schedule quicker. The MEAC also needs to wake up to the 21st century and promote its league regionally. Otherwise I think A&T showed well on national TV.

  2. A&T did promote the game through their usual channels; but, there was very little City Pride exhibited by city government and local media. We talked about the game a little – may be not as much as we could have. A&T has an advertising budget, which we get none; but we gave the game as much coverage as some of the media that we taking A&T’s money.

  3. Don – I agree with you 100%. I know you all don’t want to say it in public so I will say it for you. It is a poor use of A&T’s budget to keep putting so much money into local papers such as the N&R which does not update their paper for days and charges more for a 1 day ad than to promote on this site for an entire year. This site probably has more “sports” views (or actual read sports stories per day) than the N&R. A&T and all of the other schools need to wake up and re-evaluate their budgets and actually look at who is supporting their cause when it comes to paid promotions and organic coverage. This site beats the N&R hands down. The same would be true for UNCG, Elon, Greensboro College, etc.. Hello A&T – who has your back – it is not the N&R unless you give them $20-50K plus in ads per year. Give your money to support sites such as Greensborosports.com.
