GC Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Piedmont 3-0

The Pride men’s soccer earned a key USA South victory on Saturday, beating Piedmont 3-0 on the road. Greensboro struck once in the first half and added two second half goals to put the Lions away.

Morgan Stevenson got The Pride rolling with a goal in the 37th minute. Logan Paussa provided the assist.

Craig Gage extended the margin to 2-0 in the 53rd minute on an unassisted goal. Mark Wleh provided the final score of the day, converting an opportunity set up by Joel Cortez.

Greensboro outshot Piedmont on the day 11-9 overall and 5-4 on goal. The Pride also attempted four corner kicks compared to one for the Lions.

Gage, Paussa and Earl Floyd each recorded two shots for Greensboro. Gage led the way with a team high two shots on goal. Manbi Nyepon turned away four attempts in net to improve his record to 5-1-2.

Overall, The Pride are 5-2-2 on the season and improve to 1-0-2 in the USA South. Greensboro will look to stay unbeaten in the conference on Sunday at LaGrange. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
