The new Associated Press high school football poll is out for this week and we have the Northern Guilford Nighthawks #1 in just about every poll in the state and the 3-A teams from the West will be the teams that are chasing Northern…There are not many, if any teams in the East, that can touch Northern…..In the West in the chase you have South Point, Concord, Charlotte Catholic, AL Brown from Kannapolis and Boiling Springs Crest…..All of the Western NCHSAA teams will have a chance to catch Northern, but only one will get a direct shot at Northern and that would have to come in the NCHSAA 3-AA Title game, with Northern more than likely coming out of the 3-AA East again this year….

New Bern is the team still trying to catch Matthews Butler, but the Butler Bulldogs just keep on winning in the 4-A ranks and Butler has been without their star QB, Riley Ferguson, the past two weeks….He has been out with a thumb injury, but he should be back in time for the playoffs….The top quarterback in the state right now is Conner Mitch, from Raleigh Wakefield….Mitch threw for 367 yards and 7 TD’s last Friday night….

Reidsville stands at #6 this week in the 2-A’s and East Forsyth comes in at #7 this week in the 4-A’s…..Grimsley at East Forsyth this week and how about that for the Whirlies, you are coming off of a hard loss to your arch-rival Page and then the next week, you turn around and go play at East Forsyth(7-0), the #7 team in the state….You have to think this is an endowment game, since it is a non-conference affair, coming right in the middle of the conference portion, of both teams’ seasons….Endownment this Friday??? Game is at East in Kernersville…..
