College Volleyball Final – Emory & Henry 3, Guilford 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Jamie Cockerham had an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) season-high 28 kills in Emory & Henry College’s 25-27, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 volleyball win at Guilford College Tuesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House.

The Wasps (14-5, 4-2 ODAC) trailed after the first set, but led the rest of the way. Cockerham had 10 of her 28 kills in the third set, when the team hit .417.

Sophomore setter Maleah Neely tallied 46 assists and a game-high four service aces. Junior Kelly Mae Kerlin had a game-high 16 digs defensively. Rookie Hannah Stewart added 12 digs. Emory & Henry totaled 12 service aces and seven blocks on the night.

Sophomore Malikah French paced the Quakers with 15 kills on .571 hitting. Classmate Brittany DeCesare contributed 13 kills. Junior Taylor Whitley had 40 assists, eight digs and three kills.

Guilford plays the last of five straight home matches Thursday (10/4) against Meredith College at 6:00 p.m.
