College Women’s Soccer Final – Meredith 4, Guilford 1

RALEIGH, N.C. – Taylor Brown scored twice and Rachel Didier added a goal and an assist in Meredith College’s 4-1 soccer win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday.

The Avenging Angels (8-3) scored twice in the first half’s final 14 minutes to open a 2-0 lead at intermission. Jessie Davis scored in the 31st minute off a Kimberly Williams assist before Brown doubled the lead 1:22 before the half.

Didier and Brown tallied off of Megan Luke assists to bump the hosts’ edge to 4-0 with 17 minutes to play. Guilford’s Kelli Uresti closed the game’s scoring with her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 8:41 left in regulation.

Both teams finished with 14 shots and six saves. Guilford goalie Cori Karoly made six stops, while Meredith starter Kelsey Hopper made five saves in 70 minutes before giving way to Margaret Wyatt.

The Quakers (3-10) are back in action Saturday (10/6) at Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan College.
