You’ve got to be proud of Dudley’s Kiera McIvor:Now a leader at Radford and in the Big South

from the Radford Highlanders athletic web site:

RADFORD, Va. – Kiera McIvor (Greensboro, N.C. / James B. Dudley), a sophomore on the Radford women’s basketball team, has been elected by the Big South Conference to serve as vice chair for the league’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

“This is a wonderful honor for her and our university,” commented head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba. “I am extremely proud of her and confident she will do an outstanding job!”

As vice chair, McIvor will assist Colin Ashley with communicating issues among the conference’s SAAC members to the league office. Ashley is a member of the Gardner-Webb men’s soccer team and is chair of the Big South SAAC.

Both Ashley and McIvor will help coordinate the SAAC’s 2012-13 community service initiative and will represent the SAAC on the Big South’s Strategic Planning Committee, which deals with the conference’s strategic plan.

*****We used to refer to her like she was the leader of an attack on crime/basketball, like SNL’s McGruber, but she has done us all one better and is leading among one of the top athletic conferences in the entire nation…..*****

  1. Athletics is a stepping stone for your child’s future. Take advantage and make the most of the opportunity

  2. It would be nice if she or people such as her could come back and talk to the local students about the importance of a “good” education from a quality school instead of just surviving up to the minium requirements by the NCAA. There are far too many kids getting into college via the “exception” clause instead on their own merits. It is great that the exception clauses are there but I want my kid to have the background needed to not only get into the school but to survive a real degree that pays real money after college. Too many kids (especially girls) are have major knee/leg injuries that will put their future basketball playing careers out of reach. No education, no future playing ability and questions about their future will only leave them will trying to find their own “sugar dads”. Good luck with that as a parent that put education down the list of what was most important. Good for Kiera Mclvor showing others how it should be done !
