College Men’s Soccer Final: Guilford 2, Randolph 0

LYNCHBURG, Va.—The Quakers completed their second shutout effort of the season in a 2-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer win at Randolph College.
In the 19th minute, Ronnie Castellanos (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/North Forsyth (N.C.)) chipped a pass ahead to Freddy Gomez (Valparaiso, Chile/Williams (N.C.)) for his 12th goal of the season to the give the Quakers a 1-0 lead. The Quakers would hold the score at 1-0 until the last seconds of the match when Matthew Poling blasted a 40-yard shot into the net with three seconds left for his seventh goal of the season, securing the Quakers’ win.

The WildCats narrowly outshout the Quakers 14-12 after the Quakers outshot the WildCats 8-7 in the first half. Michael MacVane made five saves in net for the Quakers, including a save on a penalty kick in the 81st minute. C.J. Stevens made three saves for Randolph in first half and Carter Smith relieved in the second half with two saves.

The Quakers return home Sunday when Guilford faces Virginia Wesleyan College at 1 p.m. inside Appenzeller Field at Armfield Athletic Center.
