Quick Start Propels GC Men’s Soccer Past Ferrum 4-0

The Greensboro College men’s soccer team scored three goals in the first 13:34 of the game to breeze by Ferrum 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Earl Floyd struck first, converting a cross from Drew Clukey just 5:14 into the contest. The two reversed roles for the second goal as Floyd played a through ball to Clukey, who converted at the 8:32 mark.

Floyd added his second goal of the day in the 14th minute, scoring on a rebound to give The Pride a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Craig Gage provided the lone goal of the second half, weaving his way through the defense en route to a score in the 52nd minute.

The Pride held a commanding 20-9 advantage in total shots with a 9-3 margin in shots on goal. Both teams attempted three corner kicks apiece.

Clukey tallied a game high three shots and tied with Logan Paussa, Patrick Hayes and Floyd with two shots on goal. Manbi Nyepon and Woody Wilder teamed up for the shut out in goal.

The Pride move to 8-3-2 with the win and are now 3-1-2 in USA South play. Greensboro will host Maryville on Sunday at 4 p.m.
