Elon Women’s Volleyball’s Eddy Named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon volleyball’s Celia Rose Eddy has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office today, Oct. 15.

Eddy recorded a total of 15 blocks, four solo and 11 assisted, to average 1.67 blocks per set in two matches for the Phoenix last week. The senior led the defensive effort at Davidson with a career-high nine blocks to help the maroon and gold to its first win in Belk Arena in five years. At Georgia Southern, Eddy helped Elon out block the Golden Eagles, 13-5, with six blocks. The Gulf Breeze, Fla., native also recorded 12 kills on offense to average 1.33 kills per set.

This is the second time Eddy has been honored by the conference in her career. She received offensive player of the week honors last season. Elon has received a total of three player of the week awards this season.
