Chase Wilson Places First In HPU Men’s Golf’s Dual Match Win Over Gardner-Webb

NINETY-SIX, S.C. – Senior Chase Wilson of the High Point University men’s golf team picked up his third-straight win, shooting a three-under 69 to lead the Panthers to a 296-304 win over Gardner-Webb in dual match action on Saturday at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C.

“I thought the team had a good day today,” head coach Greg Flesher. “Chase and Sam both had very steady rounds and Brian Sullivan also played well with a 76. His putting was great and he was a big part of our success. Today was a total team effort and we are thrilled with how it went. We are pleased to pick up the win over a tough Big South opponent and can’t wait for our next tournament.”

Wilson finished two-strokes ahead of teammate Sam Stewart who carded a one-under 71 to finish in second place on the individual standings. Senior Brian Sullivan was HPU’s third finisher with a 76 while freshman McKay Tye rounded out the Panther scorers with an 80.

Charles Valluzzo shot an 84 for High Point while freshman Tommy Dillon shot 82 and sophomore LJ Georgetti shot an 88 while competing as individuals.

The Panthers return to tournament action on Oct. 28 when they head to Kiawah Island, S.C., to play in the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. The three-day event will be hosted by Charleston Southern at the Turtle Point Golf Course.
