College Women’s Swimming Results – Guilford Places Ninth at ODAC Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – Guilford College women’s swimming team opened the 2012-13 season Saturday with a ninth-place showing at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays hosted by Washington and Lee University.

The host Generals won the nine-team meet with 454 points, over 200 points better than second-place Randolph-Macon College. The Quakers garnered 28 points, 50 shy of eighth-place Notre Dame of Maryland University.

As a team, Guilford’s collective time dropped 64 seconds from its showing in the 2011 meet. The Quakers’ 200-yard medley relay team of Kendra Medina, Marina Bailey, Julia Sheehan and Sydney Hawkins placed 13th among 16 teams in a time of 2:20.67, 24 seconds faster than Guilford’s 2011 time in the same race.

Guilford’s entry in the 200 8×25 relay relay had the team’s highest finish, 10th place, in a time of 2:01.92. The unit of Emily Carter, Becca Dozier, Jocelyn Gesner and Sydney Hawkins scored a meet-best seven points for the Quakers.

First-year head coach Emily Wilson’s team competes Nov. 3 in an ODAC double-dual meet at Bridgewater College with Greensboro College.
