HPU Women’s Golf Closes Out The Fall Season With A Dual Match Win Over Gardner-Webb

NINETY-SIX, S.C. – The High Point University women’s golf team picked up a 317-319 win over Gardner-Webb in its lone dual match of the season on Saturday at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, S.C. Freshman Tan Cheeranont finished in second place with a 77.

“I was really impressed with the way we played on the front nine today,” head coach Vici Pate Flesher said. “We weren’t able to match that on the back nine, but we were still able to win. To still beat a good team in Gardner-Webb with the way we struggled was a big confidence booster for the team. This was a great way to end the fall season and head into the winter break. The girls understand what they need to work on over the break to come back and compete in the spring.”

Cheeranont finished just one-stroke back of individual winner Mary Katherine Donovan of Gardner-Webb. Senior Audra McShane, sophomore Grier Bennett and freshman Casey Ward all shot an 80 on the day to account for HPU’s other counted scores.

Senior Jessica Neese shot an 84 while junior Margaret Suchan and sophomore Kaila Tuccio each shot 81 while competing as individuals.

The dual match marks the end of the fall season for High Point.
