BIG High School Football games for this Friday night and how do you see these contests shaping up?

Lots of BIG games still to be played, in the last week of the regular season, with the Playoff Pairings due out on Saturday afternoon….How do you see this week’s matchups shaping up?

BIG:Grimsley at Dudley…If Grimsley wins they both finish at (4-2) in the conference and if Dudley wins, the Panthers go (5-1) and Grimsley closes at (3-3) and the Whirlies have a much tougher road into the playoffs…

BIG:Northern Guilford at Western Alamance…If NG wins they go unbeaten in the conference and for the regular season with the marks of (10-0/7-0) and if Western wins, that could erase a #1 seed for NG in the playoffs and give WA a huge shot in the arm for playoff time….

REAL BIG:Page at Southeast Guilford…If Pirates win that will give them back-to-back unbeaten seasons in the Metro 4-A at (6-0) and it will also allow Page to stay on their winning streak, after beginning 2012 at (0-4) and this might just Page at least two home games in the playoffs…SEG win then they are (4-2) in the conference and guaranteed a home spot in Round One of the playoffs and they can prove, that Page can be beat in the Metro and SEG will also prove to themselves, that they can win the REAL BIG games…

BIG BIG:High Point Central at Ragsdale…The winner moves on to #2 in the conference at (4-2) and the loser can fall all the way to 4th and on the outside corner of the playoffs, with the road being their only means of travel come playoff time…HP Central wins and they go (5-1) PTA and they own the second spot…Ragsdale wins and the Tigers are (4-2) PTA and they are second place, all part of a three-way tie, with NWG(4-2), HPC(4-2) and Ragsdale at (4-2)…..If Ragsdale falls at home, on Senior Night, the Tigers slide down to (3-3) in the PTA and they have 4th place, a spot they would rather see someone else occupying……This one is really BIG BIG…

Other Guilford County games to keep an eye on, on Friday night:
Smith at Southern Alamance….Ben L. trying to get their first ‘W’ (win) of the year, in their last game of the year…..
Eastern Guilford at McMichael…Wildcats could close with BIG win…
Northeast Guilford at Ledford…Rams need this one for playoff seeding….
Southern Guilford at Asheboro…Would give the SG Storm a perfect conference record and when is the last time they did that…Maybe in the last year under Coach Lawrence?
Wheatmore at High Point Andrews….Big booster going into the playoffs if HPA can win this and they should win 56-0 and the subs will see some bonus time, after the Seniors finish up their last football exam…
Southwest Guilford at WS Parkland…The best medicine for the off-season, would be a BIG SWG Cowboy win on the final night, of the 2012 football season….
Hickory Grove at High Point Christian…The HPCA Cougars are headed to the playoffs and this game would jump-start their post-season…

Northwest Guilford(OPEN)
Western Guilford(OPEN)

  1. What happens if Dudley and Page win? Is there a coin flip to see if SEG, Grimsley, or WG get the last playoff spot?

  2. They ususally draw the names out of a hat in that instance….Draw seed and at the same time draw to see who goes….

Hard to toss that three-sided coin when three teams are involved…

Hat in the past and maybe the process has changed, but that is how I see it….You may not get your name out of that hat and then you would be out of the playoffs…

  3. I have said on many occasions I am not a fan of the NC playoff format. I come from a state that every team makes it to the playoffs. As watered down as that may seem, you do not fall into the flipping a coin to see who goes to the playoffs and who loses out. There are straight up 5 class systems and 5 champions. We do not have split classes that complicate the system even more. It really is a Harsh Reality to think SEG, Grimsley and WG would have to draw from a hat or flip a coin to find who goes to the playoffs.

I think everybody agrees that we would like to see the kids win it on the field, but to lose it on a coin flip or pulling a team out of a hat is not smart in my book..
