GC Women’s Soccer Loses Regular Season Finale at Averett 4-0

The Pride women’s soccer team concluded its regular season on Wednesday with a 4-0 setback at Averett. Greensboro has locked up a berth in the USA South tournament and will now await its postseason fate.

The Cougars put two goals on the board in the first half of this one while limiting Greensboro to four total shots and only one on goal.

Johanne Ingrebrigsten got the ball rolling for Averett with the eventual game winner just over 18 minutes into the contest. Mathilda Hanssen helped ice the game with two goals.

Melanie Raton led The Pride with two shots on offense. Allison Gibson recorded the lone shot on goal for Greensboro. Shireen Unvala suffered the loss despite turning away six shots.

The Pride finished the regular season 7-10 overall and 6-5 in the conference. The USA South tournament is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday. The top eight teams will make the tournament, with the top four teams hosting first round games. The semi-finals and finals will be played on November 2-3 at Martinsville, VA.
