The playoffs start next week, but for some teams they start TONIGHT….We will have High Point Central at Ragsdale as our radio game, on AM950/97.7FM/wpetam950.com, plus scores on all the games throughout the area and it all gets going at 6:45pm with the pre-game show and then the kickoff is set to come at 7:30, from Miller Stadium, in Jamestown….We were (11-3) on our picks last week and (13-0), the week before that, so we will see how that part of our game goes this evening….There are two pretty big games outside of our area, that should get quite a few people’s attention and those are Matthews Butler vs. Charlotte Independence at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte and the South Point vs. Boiling Springs Crest game…
Here is how our local landscape is shaping up for tonight…..
High Point Central at Ragsdale….If Central wins the Bison go to (5-1) in the PTA 4-A, but if the Tigers take it, you have a three-way tie for second place with Ragsdale, High Point Central and Northwest Guilford all at (4-2)…Lots on the line tonight…..If Ragsdale fall this evening, they would fall all the way down to 4th place at (3-3)….
Grimsley at Dudley….If the homestanding Panthers prevail, then Dudley locks up second place in the Metro at (5-1), but if Grimsley gets the upset, the Whirlies go to (4-2) and they would tie Dudley for second place in the Metro….With a loss, Grimsley would drop to (3-3) and they could end up in a three-way tie for third with SEG and Western….No head-to-head determination with those three, as Grimsley beat SEG, SEG beat Western and Western beat Grimsley…(Pass the hat.)
Page at Southeast Guilford…If Page wins, the Pirates move to (6-0) and they have it all to themselves in the Metro, but if they were to come up short tonight at SEG, then they would sit at (5-1) and could end up tied with Dudley and the Pirates still get the top seed, based on the head-to-head with Dudley, after the Pirates topped the Panthers 28-20, last week at Page…If SEG takes tonight’s contest the Falcons improve to (4-2) and they would get a look at second place, or they could lock down third all alone…If SEG goes down at home on October 26, they might just find themselves at (3-3) and in that lockdown with SEG and Grimsley….
Northern Guilford at Western Alamance…It is all about that seed and we don’t mean the pumpkin seed, we mean the playoff seeds….Nothern can finish a perfect (10-0/7-0) with a win tonight at Elon College, but if the Nighthawks fall, that could really change things as we look at the playoff pairings on Saturday afternoon..NG has the #1 seed from the Mid-State 3-A wrapped up, but they need the win tonight to give them an overall #1 seed in the 3-AA East or West, depending on which way they go this season…..Western tripped up Northern two years ago, but the Nighthawks still rolled through the 3-AA East, on their way to their first of two NCHSAA Titles….

Wheatmore at High Point Andrews…Andrews owns the PAC-6 2-A in a key game for the Red Raiders and the win makes them a strong candidate for a very long post-season run….
Hickory Grove at High Point Christian Acadmey…HPCA is in the playoffs for the first time ever and what better way to send your Cougars packing for the extended season, than with a big win, in your final regular season game…
Morehead at Rockingham County…The Rock looks to close strong and they should against a tough defensive team and they have two twins on this Morehead Panthers squad that The Rock better watch out for, those two can play some ball…Just a few words for the wise….
