NCHSAA State 2-A Girl’s Tennis Championships – 1st Day

2-A WOMEN’S TENNIS MOVES TO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND;
BREVARD QUALIFIES FOR FINALS IN SINGLES AND DOUBLES

CARY– Brevard High School had an excellent day on Friday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A women’s tennis tournament at the Cary Tennis Center, placing a singles player and a doubles team into the championship matches.

Hunter Hall of Brevard won three matches on Friday in impressive fashion, dropping only two games all day and winning five of her six sets at love. Hall will take on Shelby’s Nancy Bridges for the state title.

Bridges won an afternoon semifinal over defending state singles champ Kalli Karas of Cuthbertson by 7-6(4), 6-0. The decision was made to play three rounds on Friday with the threat of inclement weather on Saturday.

The doubles final is set with Katelyn Storey and Anna Flynn of Salisbury taking on the Brevard team of Emma McLeod and Taylor Snowdon. Two Salisbury duos won a pair of matches Friday to move into the semifinals, but McLeod and Snowdon outlasted Salisbury’s Sallie Kate Meyerhoeffer and

Alexandra Drye in a tough three-setter 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 to advance to the championship match.

Action is slated to get underway at nine o’clock Saturday morning. If inclement weather occurs, matches will start at 8 am indoors at North Carolina State University.
