GREENSBORO, N.C.—Three Randolph College goals in 4:33 earned the WildCats a 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s soccer quarterfinal win over Guilford College Saturday Night. With the win, Randolph advances to the semifinals to face the top-seed Roanoke College in Salem, Va. while the Quakers finish their season with a 10-8 overall record.
In the 14th minute, the WildCats’ Jacob Lusczek booted the ball into the net off a deflection from a cross into the box. Three minutes later, John Adams beat his defender from the left side to give Randolph a 2-0 advantage. Two minutes later, Will Wolf fired a shot into the net off a free kick deflection to increase the WildCat lead to 3-0.
The WildCats earned the advantage on shots, 17-9. Michael MacVane made six saves in net for the Quakers. Carter Smith had five stops for the WildCats.
Great win for the Wildcats over the 4th seed Quakers. Good game for for our local athlete, Carter Smith Grimsley ’10, in goal…recorded 5 saves to preserve the shutout. On to the semi finals Wednesday night against top seeded Roanoke College.
