College Cross Country Results – Guilford Women Place Eighth at ODAC Championships

PENN LAIRD, Va. – Washington and Lee University claimed the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Cross Country Championship title Saturday.

The Generals dominated the 92-woman field, scoring up 29 points. Bridgewater College (51) and Lynchburg College (85) took second and third, respectively. Host Eastern Mennonite University (133) and Virginia Wesleyan College (137) rounded out the top five. Guilford College finished eighth in the nine-team field with 228 points.

Bridgewater’s Olivia Mills completed the six-kilometer course first, in 23 minutes, 7.83 seconds, just under 10 seconds faster than her teammate, Kaylee Kubisiak (23:17.58), who took second. Washington and Lee’s Lauren Schultz (23:39.57), Molly Ortiz (23:46.68) and Casey Mackintosh (24:06.15) placed third through fifth.

Sophomore Jasmine O’Neill (Winston-Salem, N.C./Parkland) paced the Quakers, crossing the finish line 34th with a time of 26:31.23. Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) (27:39.32), Pasangi Perera (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) (28:26.14) and Emily Cash (Hurdle Mills, N.C./Orange) (29:17.64) finished third through fifth for Guilford respectively. Colleen Gonzalez (33:34.24), Rachel Flint (37:03.33) and Jodie Geddes (37:29.39) also ran for the Quakers.

Guilford returns to action Nov. 10 when the Quakers run in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships in Georgia.
