RALEIGH – As a boys soccer program, Wesleyan Christian Academy is used to being a target for other teams. It’s what comes with winning 11 state titles since capturing its first in 1984.

After winning last year and again preparing a stout team for this year, the target was perhaps even more squarely on the Trojans. But they thrived, completing a 25-0 run to its 12th title Saturday with a 1-0 win over Greensboro Day in the NCISAA 3A finals at Ravenscroft.

“It’s a little different this year than in years past because there was a lot of pressure on us,” said coach Scott Reitnour, in his 10th season at the school. “But learning how to deal with that pressure is important for young men and coaches alike.

“It’s a great feeling. I’m proud of the guys. They did all the work and found ways in tough situations to get the job done. And I couldn’t be more proud of them as a coach. They grew up a lot together, both on the field and off. It was a good season, and I’m really excited for them.”
