GC Women’s Soccer Garners Five Spots on All-Conference Team

The Greensboro College women’s soccer team earned five spots on the USA South All-Conference Team released on Wednesday. Allison Gibson, T’Keyah Henry and Sarah Hopkins each earned Second Team honors while Meredith Kelly and Shireen Unvala received Honorable Mention recognition.

As a forward, Gibson paced The Pride offense with 26 points during the regular season. In 18 appearances, she totaled 12 goals and two assists.

Fellow Second Team selections, Henry and Hopkins, anchored a stingy Greensboro defense. Both players started all 18 games on The Pride defensive line. Hopkins also recorded six points on two goals and two assists.

Kelly earned All-Conference recognition for the fourth consecutive year after finishing third on the team with 11 points. Overall, Kelly netted three goals and five assists in 18 games. In addition, she was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Unvala turned away 61 shots in goal to earn six of the team’s seven wins during her sophomore campaign.

“I’m proud of the players who have achieved conference recognition,” said head coach Ian Spooner. “They have all worked hard and have been outstanding student-athletes this year. They represent Greensboro College very well.”
