Elon Cross Country Competes at N.C. State Invitational

CARY, N.C. – The Elon cross country program had a few members compete in the Three Stripe Invitational Saturday morning, Nov. 3, hosted by N.C. State. The meet was held at the WakeMed Cross Country Course and consisted competition from Duke, N.C. State, North Carolina and East Carolina.

In the women’s 5K run, junior Erin Macbeth was the top finisher for the second time this season with a time of 19:12 just ahead of Kaitlin Stober, who clocked in at 19:13. Both marks were new personal bests for each runner.

Jackie Madden (19:27), Jenny Gallagher (19:39), Kylie Womack (19:41), Sabina Bains (19:41), Brenna McDavid (19:42) and Ellie Taff (19:43) also competed for Elon and finished under the 20-minute mark.

On the men’s side, Reed Payne, Nick Schneider and Nick Foley competed for the Phoenix in the 5K race. Payne led the maroon and gold with a time of 16:26, just edging out teammate Payne by one second. Foley crossed the line with a mark of 16:40.

The maroon and gold will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 9, in Charlotte, N.C.
