Ratner shot 74-69-143 and placed a team-best seventh in the 82-man field at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley Nov. 3-4. Guilford was the only non-Division I team in the event, which was hosted by Western Carolina University. For the season, Ratner leads the Quakers and ranks second in the ODAC with a 73.67 stroke average through 12 rounds. He placed 16th or higher in each of the Quakers’ five tournaments with two top-10 efforts. In addition to his seventh-place effort at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, he placed eighth at the Golfweek D3 Preview in Destin, Fla., after shooting 72-72-73-217. A two-time PING First Team All-American, Ratner is the defending NCAA Division III Player of the Year, according to the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Coach Corey Maggard’s team is ranked eighth in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ Poll and 11th in the Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Rankings. Guilford won the Ted Keller Memorial and placed second in the O’Briant-Jensen Memorial in October. The Quakers return to action Feb. 25-26 in the Pine Needles Intercollegiate.
