Aaron Toomey(Bishop McGuinness) named DIII First Team All-America

As our old friend Skipp McCall might say, “It’s Toomey Time, It’s Toomey Time, Basketball Fans, It is now Toomey Time and he’s from the Triad”……

A former Bishop McGuinness Boys basketball player has been named to the NCAA D3 Pre-Season All-America First team.

Aaron Toomey (Bishop ’10) gained the honor earlier this week. Aaron was a two time Associated Press All-State player at Bishop, was MVP of the 2009 NCHSAA 1A State championship game, and was runner up for North Carolina State player of the year in 2010.

Amherst is ranked # 5 in the nation in the NCAA D3 preseason rankings.
The Villains also have two other former players playing at the colleigiate level currently- Jake McSwain (’10) at Methodist University and Trey Tatum (’12) at Maryville College in Tennessee.
