Elon Men’s Soocer: Latigue Named to Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week

ELON, N.C. – Elon men’s soccer senior midfielder Gabe Latigue was named to the Topdrawersoccer.com National Team of the Week the publication announced on Monday morning, Nov. 12. Latigue helped the Phoenix win its second consecutive Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 10, and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player.

Latigue scored the game-winner the championship match versus Wofford with a goal in the 75th minute in the Phoenix’s 2-1 win over the Terriers. The Apex, N.C. native has scored a goal in four of the past six matches in the SoCon tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.

This is Latigue’s first weekly honor from Top Drawer Soccer as he has scored five goals with six assists this season. Last week, Latigue earned All-SoCon second team accolades for his performance on the pitch this year.

Elon clinched the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and won both the SoCon regular season outright title and tournament championship for the first time in the program’s history. The team will find out later today its opponent in the NCAA Tournament at its selection show viewing party starting at 5 p.m. at the Fat Frogg in Elon.
