MAUI, Hawaii, Nov. 14, 2012 – Celebrating its 29th year as the nation’s premier early-season men’s college basketball tournament, the EA SPORTSTM Maui Invitational® today announced that all four 2012 Regional Games will be held at Elon University and video streamed online for free via UStream.
REGIONAL GAMES: For the second round of the Tournament, the four Mainland Teams (participating in the Opening and Regional Games include Colgate, Coppin State, Elon and Florida Atlantic) will play in a two-day, four-game event. Elon University in Elon, N.C., will be the site for the 2012 Regional Games. The first game will take place between Colgate and Elon on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. EST in Alumni Gym. All games will be streamed live at www.ustream.tv/channel/elon-phoenix-athletics.

In 2011, the Tournament expanded from eight Division I teams to 12. The number of Tournament games also increased from 12 games, played on the Island of Maui, to 23 games, which include 11 games played on the U.S. mainland. The expanded Tournament format is played in three parts: Opening Games, Regional Games and the Championship Round.
OPENING GAMES: Prior to traveling to Maui for the Championship Round, seven Island Teams – Butler, Illinois, Marquette, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Texas and USC — hosted one home game against one Mainland Team – Colgate, Coppin State, Elon and Florida Atlantic. These games were played at the Island Teams’ home arenas.
