Guilford Women’s Basketball: Drew Leads Guilford Past N.C. Wesleyan, 70-54

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Brittany Drew (Greensboro, N.C./Page) had team-high 15 points in Guilford’s 70-54 win over North Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House.

The Quakers (2-0) never trailed by more than five points. Morgan King went four-for-seven from the floor and had her first double-double of the season, tallying 12 points and 11 rebounds. Brittany Atwater added 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Gabby Oglesby and Jaclyn Nucci had eight points apiece. Oglesby also had 11 rebounds. Nucci grabbed nine boards and team-high assists (6) and steals (5). Logan Hardin chipped in five points, three rebounds and two steals in 15 minutes.

Guilford shot 47.2% from the floor in the second half, 23% better than the Battling Bishops, to solidify the victory. The Quakers also outscored their opponents, 20-7, off turnovers.

Samantha Urquhart paced N.C. Wesleyan with game-high points (16) and rebounds (12). The senior forward made 12 of 14 free throws. Leann Breeden contributed 14 points, 12 from beyond the arc. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Derreon Cole added ten points.

The Quakers return to action Sunday (11/18) against York (Pa.) College at 3:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House as part of the Daly Seven Hotels Classic.
