High School Football Saturday Morning rewind:Three’s the Charm/Bundling up the links/Doing it for Jack

They say the third times the charm and Northern Guilford will meet Wilson Hunt for the third straight year, in the NCHSAA 3-AA East Regional Finals next Friday night at the Nighthawks’ Stadium, on Spencer-Dixon Road…

The Nighthawks are in pursuit of their third straight State Championship and the Wilson Hunt Warriors will be trying to get past Northern Guilford for the third consecutive year so they can advance, just for chance, at at State Title….Northern(13-0) and Hunt(13-0), going for it all this coming Friday night…

T.J. Logan told Jeff Mills of the News and Record that last night was one of his best, if not the best game he has ever played for Northern and Logan is the best, if not one of the best backs to ever come out of Guilford County and I have seem quite a few of those backs over the years and nobody can effect the overall outcome of a game, like T.J. Logan does and we hope he does it again on the Friday night after Thanksgiving…

We have bundled up all of the key links for you down below and that should make for key reading for you after last night’s games and leading up to next week….It will be in some ways, T.J. Logan vs. Josh Joyner next Friday night…Joyner is the ace runningback for Wilson Hunt and he had three touchdowns, in Warriors’ win last night, over Cleveland Clayton…Joyner is much the ace for Hunt, like Caleb Driver was for the Warriors, two years ago at Hunt…

Marquell Cartwright a big night for High Point Andrews last night with 252 yards rushing and 2 TD’s, but the comeback by the Salisbury Hornets will leave a bad taste in the mouth for Andrews for a long, long time….Malik Moseley was held to just 50 yards by the Northern Guilford defense last evening and this was the first time that Moseley had been kept under 100 yards, all season long…..

Have enjoyed the run by Northern Guilford in the playoffs and have been out on Spencer-Dixon for each round of the action so far, watching Nighthawks’ wins over Asheboro, Chapel Hill and Southern Guilford….Fun run jumping on board and staying with the same team and the Forlanos have been good fans to get to know with dad, mom and Chris and last night they had Mr. Forlano’s mom and brother at the game…We were hearing that Robert Wilcox may be done for the year with an MCL injury and that Justin Wallace may have to hit the shelf with concussion difficulties…

Again really have enjoyed the run with Northern this season and we have been on board with the Nighthawks for their previous State Championship Games(Raleigh and Chapel Hill) and at Hunt two years ago and at Northern for Round One last year…..

Got to give props to Northern and much of my interest in them goes back many years to my relative Jack Coltrane and now his grandson Austin Coltrane is the Nighthawks’ starting quarterback…Jack and I were cousins, his son Bobby and I are cousins and this keeps a strong football thread running in our family..Jack was ‘The Man’ in his time and he was well respected by all that knew him and his son Bobby keeps up that Coltrane tradition of being there at all of the team and school events and being a very strong support system for the school and his family…Jack Coltrane would have been very proud of his grandson and his accomplishments, but he would have been even more proud of the good people and the good things that are going on at Northern Guilford High School, just like he was back when his son Bobby was at Northeast Guilford High School and when his wife used to fill in and substitute teach at Northeast…In many ways they are still doing it for Jack today, a man who was well thought of and respected in his community…..

A good positive way to close out the Rewind today and we will add more as time allows on this busy Saturday….
