Cincinnati, Ohio – Cheyenne Parker recorded her third double-double of the season in the High Point University women’s basketball team’s 77-48 loss at Xavier on Monday night. Parker scored 20 points and collected 13 rebounds.

“Give all credit to Xavier, they played a great game,” said head coach DeUnna Hendrix. “We just didn’t show up today. We were supposed to be the attackers and the aggressors and we weren’t, Xavier was. Cheyenne is playing as hard as she possibly can and exhausting herself on the floor. She can only go so hard for so long before she needs some help.”

Parker added four blocks and five steals to her double-double to lead the Panthers in all categories. Senior Erin Reynolds and redshirt-sophomore Stacia Robertson each added nine points. Reynolds also had five assists and Robertson grabbed six boards.

Amber Gray led Xavier with 14 points and Jessica Pachko added 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Parker staked High Point to a 9-8 lead as she scored High Point’s first nine points of the game. She converted three layups and three free throws to open the scoring for High Point. HPU pushed the lead to four, 17-13, on a jumper from Reynolds at the 9:44 mark.

Xavier went on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes to take the lead back, 25-17. Shatyra Hawkes score four points for the Musketeers over the stretch. Freshman Tabitha Fudge broke up Xavier’s run with a layup from junior Tayler Tremblay with 4:57 left in the first half. The Musketeers continued to push the lead in the final minutes of the first half, taking a 37-21 lead to the locker room.

High Point came out of the break with a 5-0 run for the second-straight game. Robertson scored all five points on a layup and her first three-pointer of the season. Robertson’s baskets cut Xavier’s lead to 37-26.

The Musketeers maintained their lead for the remainder of the second half. High Point came within 13, 57-44, with 7:33 remaining when freshman Tori Cook converted a pair of free throws. Xavier answered with a nine-point run, pushing the lead back to 22 points 66-44. The Musketeers kept the lead, going on to win 77-48.

High Point starts the season 1-3 with all three losses coming on the road.

High Point University returns home on Sunday to face Bluefield College. Tip-off at the Millis Center is set for 2 p.m. The Panthers are 1-0 against Bluefield College all-time. High Point beat the Rams 102-45 on Dec. 11, 2010. The 102 points HPU scored in the game is the third-most points scored in a game in the Div. I era.
