CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell women’s basketball freshman point guard Zena Lovette(Southwest Guilford Cowgirls) (High Point, N.C.) was honored as the Big South Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. She scored a team-high 23 points in the week, including pacing the game at Western Carolina with a personal-best 15.

Lovette has had an impressive start to the season after becoming the first freshman point guard to earn the starting role at Campbell, since Janice Washington on Nov. 23, 1996. She added four steals, three assists and one block on the week.

The High Point, N.C., native made three field goals in each contest at Western Carolina and against N.C. Central, but aided the Lady Camels in closing out their first road contest, 55-40, going eight-of-10 from the charity stripe down the stretch.

In the 67-51 victory against the Lady Eagles, Lovette made a season-high two jumpers from three-point range along with two assists.
