Elon’s Troutman Named SoCon Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon University junior forward Lucas Troutman has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today, Nov. 27.

Troutman averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds as the Phoenix went 1-1 last week. Elon knocked off South Carolina (62-53) on the road before falling at VMI (90-81).

The Belton, S.C., native led all scorers with 17 points at South Carolina. He finished 8-of-12 from the field and added six rebounds and three steals. Troutman poured in 16 points and eight rebounds three days later at VMI.

The forward shot 54 percent (15-of-28) from the field and added six steals, two blocked shots and an assist last week. His two blocked shots moved him into third place on Elon’s all-time blocked shots list (110).

Troutman is tied for ninth in the SoCon in scoring (14.8 ppg) and leads the league in blocked shots (2.8 bpg). His 6.2 rebounds per game rank 11th in the league.

Elon (4-2) returns to action tomorrow night, Nov. 28, when the Phoenix visits Georgia Southern (2-3). The game will tip off at 7 p.m. at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Ga.
