Greensboro College Men’s Basketball Rolls by Johnson & Wales 85-65

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Greensboro College men’s basketball beat Johnson & Wales 85-65 in its home opener on Monday night.
The Pride broke the game open in the first half, taking a commanding 45-25 lead into the break. The key run of the half was an 18-0 spurt that left Greensboro on top 41-19 with 4:08 to go.

The run was fueled by a pair of three pointers by Damian Dixon, who also capped the stretch with a free throw. Overall, The Pride held the Wildcats scoreless for a total of 4:38.

Greensboro cruised to the half from there, led by Luqman Tijani with ten points. Dixon also contributed nine points to the effort.

In the second half, the lead would grow to as many as 35 points at 72-37 with 9:36 left in the game. Johnson & Wales rallied late but never seriously threatened as the game concluded with a final score of 85-65.

Dixon recorded a game high 20 points in the win. Tijani concluded the night with 16 points, while Brian Thomas added ten. Tijani and Lamonte Bell led The Pride on the boards with seven rebounds apiece.

Greensboro concluded the night with a 39.0% field goal performance and shot 4-12 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats finished the game shooting 35.% from the field and 4-10 from three. The Pride held a 56-34 advantage in the rebounding category.

With the victory, Greensboro moves to 3-1 on the young season. The Pride will open up the USA South slate on Saturday at home against Ferrum at 2 p.m.
