Ragsdale played their first game in their new gym on Friday night as they hosted the Page Pirates. Page’s guard Jalen Gaven scored the game’s first basket on a drive in the lane and freshman guard Ty Graves followed with a three pointer as the Pirates came out of the gate fast and set the tone for the night as Page went on to record the 65 – 60 win.

Page never trailed in the first quarter although Mack McCain and Jarrett Holland closed the quarter out for the Tigers with back to back baskets to close the gap to one at the buzzer by a 15 – 14 score. The two teams went back in forth in the second, with three separate ties, the last one coming as Ragsdale’s Joe Bryant hit a three with a minute fourteen left in the half. The Pirates Terrance Morrison then hit a three, one of four for him on the night, and his teammate Carter Stanley closed out the half with an old-fashioned three pointer on a bucket and a foul to put the Pirates up by 6 at the half.

The two teams headed to the final quarter with Page up by four before Ragsdale opened the quarter on a 8 – 2 run, highlighted by two Bryant treys to take their first lead of the night at 48 – 46. Over the next three minutes there were 6 ties or lead changes before a Morrison three put the Pirates up 56 – 53 with 3:39 left. The Pirates extended the lead to nine at 62 -53 with 58 seconds left on two Graves foul shots before Ragsdale went on a 7 – 1 run over the next 15 seconds as Daniel Kanakanui hit a bucket and James Stepp hit a trey and two foul shots to cut the lead to three. When Page missed the front end of a one and one, Ragsdale came down with a chance to tie the game with just under 30 seconds left. The Tigers missed a contested three pointer and got the rebound but threw it away trying to set up another three as Justin Neal came up with the loose ball and went the length of the court for a layup at the buzzer to make the final 65 – 60.

Ty Graves led the Pirates with 21 and was a threat all night with his dribble penetration into the lane. Terrance Morrison had 16. Ragsdale was led by Joe Bryant who led all scorers with 28 points highlighted by 6 three pointers. It was a fast paced up and down game as the Pirates made the play at the end to preserve their lead and pick up their first win of the season.
