THE SERIES: Tuesday marks the second all-time meeting between Elon and Dartmouth. The Big Green leads the series, 1-0.

LAST MEETING: The Phoenix and Big Green met for the first time ever last season in Hanover, N.H., on Dec. 17, as Dartmouth came away with a 62-54 victory. Dartmouth held Elon to its second lowest percentage shooting from the field all of last season (29.1 percent) in the game. The Phoenix put four players in double figures in the setback, as Lucas Troutman and Ryley Beaumont both ended the day with a team-best 13 points.

ON THE HORIZON: Following Tuesday’s game against Dartmouth, Elon is off until its Dec. 15 game at UMass in Springfield, Mass. The game is the 2012 Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase Game and is in conjunction with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Elon’s game at UMass is the first of three straight on the road, as the Phoenix takes on Duke on Dec. 20 and Columbia on Dec. 22.

LOOKING BACK: It came down to the wire for the second straight season on Saturday night, but the College of Charleston Cougars managed to escape Alumni Gym with a win this time, handing the Phoenix a 56-54 setback. Austin Hamilton’s 40-footer for the potential game-winner ricocheted off the rim as the buzzer sounded, as the Phoenix moved to 1-1 in Southern Conference action. Last year’s meeting between the two squads in Alumni Gym went to double overtime, with Elon coming away with a 99-98 win.

TROUTMAN HONORED: Lucas Troutman was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 27. Troutman averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds as the Phoenix went 1-1 last week.
